Free exhibition space? That’s Summit to think about

The Web Summit is offering an opportunity for some of the hottest startups in the world to exhibit for free.

A stand at Europe’s largest startup event will cost larger tech companies upwards of €10,000.

Startups chosen for the Summit’s Alpha program will exhibit for the price of a regular attendee ticket.

SoundCloud and MIT discuss data analytics and visualisation

This gives them access to the world’s top investors and media from Europe and the US.

From Hailo to Bono

Dubbed Europe’s answer to South By South West, last year’s Summit hosted over 300 investors from the likes of Andreessen Horowitz, KPCB, Accel, Index and Atomico.

Previous speakers have included everyone from Jack Dorsey to Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld to U2’s Bono.

This year’s lineup includes the founders of Evernote, Skype, WordPress and Hailo – as well as pro-skateboarder Tony Hawk.

The judges will be taken from a pool of speakers that includes Niklas Zennstrom of Skype, Phil Libin of Evernote, Kevin Rose of Google Ventures and Esther Dyson.

Last years chief judge was Jawed Karim, co-founder of Youtube.
