P2P e-learning platform SmartUp closes $5.5m Series A round

P2P micro-learning platform SmartUp has announced the closure of a $5.5m Series A round co-led by Notion Capital and Hong Leong Group.

SmartUp, which seeks to enable users to create their own content and share their knowledge, will use the funds to continue evolving its platform.

The company claims that its platform is already being used by more than 100,000 startup founders and teams.

Speaking about the raise, co-founder Frank Meehan, commented: “Corporates who came to us and said they liked the micro-learning format we created – but asked if they could put their own content in it.

“So we just launched our new peer-to-peer micro-learning platform – where anyone can start a community, and create channels of interactive content – text/quizzes/video/polls etc. We have our own startup and innovator content communities which are open and free, while corporates can create private communities,”added Mehan.

The startup was co-founded by Brent Hoberman (Lastminute.com) and Henry Lane (Founders Factory).

SmartUp’s valuation following the raise is not known.
