HutZero’s programme, will start with a week-long bootcamp in September, followed by a three month period of mentoring.

Minister of state for digital and culture, Matt Hancock said, “We are determined to make the UK the safest place to live and do business online and are investing £1.9bn over five years to help protect the nation from damaging cyber threats and attacks.

“Our HutZero scheme is one of a series of initiatives to expand the UK’s cyber security sector and helps support innovative start-ups and entrepreneurs develop new ways to keep us safe.

“The application process for the second programme is now open, and I encourage all ambitious and capable individuals to apply so they can benefit from the comprehensive training, mentoring and networking on offer,” added the minister.

Pi Labs demo day

PI Labs held a demo day in London yesterday, featuring pitches from the following PropTech companies:

Keepsite – Keepsite is a software platform for individuals and businesses that design and deliver construction projects

StorageShare – Storage Share is the online marketplace for storage space. The platform will help landlords to rent out their attic, garage or spare room to renters who are in need of storage space. The benefit of the platform is that every free space is used, renters are paying less compared to traditional self-storage locations and landlords earn money with space they are not using.

Ask Porter – A platform that focuses on cutting out the middle man for managed properties saving residents time, money and hassle and providing traditional estate agents a route to maintaining customer relevancy in a digital age.

FinTech delegation to India

Chancellor of the exchequer Philip Hammond led a two day FinTech delegation to India this week.

The trip, made to promote the UK’s FinTech sector, included representatives from well-know companies in the space such as Iwoca and TransferWise.

Ministers will seek to showcase how Britain is still open for business by making a series of announcements, which will include plans for increased collaboration between the UK and Indian FinTech sectors.

As part of the proposals, India and the UK will take forward a regulatory cooperation agreement that will seek to make it easier for both countries to share expertise on emerging trends and regulatory issues and facilitate investment in UK and Indian FinTech.
